Dopo la versione made in "Ankara" con Rapha, volevamo vedere quali erano le sensazioni in casa Belgorod.

Scopriamo un po' come se la passa ..
1) Questa è la tua prima Final4, che sensazioni provi? Come vivono questa attesa la squadra e la società visto che mancano dalle finali da qualche anno?
Per me, per la squadra e per il club questa qualificazione rappresenta ovviamente motivo di grande felicità e orgoglio. La società torna a competere ad alto livello anche a livello europeo dopo qualche anno di astinenza. Era un grande obiettivo ad inizio stagione e il fatto di averlo centrato giustifica il buonissimo lavoro di questo club.
2) Tutti vi danno come i favoriti, d'altronde il vostro cammino verso la fase finale lo testimonia. Ti vedi in queste vesti?
Mah, intanto non sapevo che ‘tutti’ ci dessero per favoriti. Grazie per la notizia. Credo si siano qualificate tre squadre con merito pallavolistico, mentre Ankara che gioca in casa e quindi non ha dovuto affrontare i Playoff, resta una squadra attrezzatissima. In più la squadra di casa è sempre quella 'da battere’. Detto questo sono convinto che in questa Final4 ci siano le migliori squadre d’Europa. Il livello è altissimo.
3) Cosa pensi del Kazan? come vedi la partita con loro? Ormai vi conoscete a memoria viste le sfide che avete già avuto quest'anno.
Kazan, lo sappiamo bene, è una squadra completa. Forte tecnicamente, tatticamente, mentalmente, nei singoli e nel collettivo e soprattutto con una buona dose di esperienza che conta tantissimo in queste occasioni.
4) Come vedi l'altra semifinale, Ankara - Jastrzebski?
Ankara, come ho detto prima, gioca in casa e il vantaggio esiste, ma la squadra polacca ha dimostrato di giocare molto bene a pallavolo. Giocano con intelligenza e furbizia in più sono dei lottatori. Che non guasta mai.
5) Facciamo un gioco: togli un giocatore ad ognuna delle altre 3 finaliste e magari spiegaci perché
Non mi piace questo gioco :))) Che gusto ci sarebbe se togliamo i giocatori più forti? E' la cosa più bella che possa esserci nello sport confrontarsi con i migliori, quindi nessuna nomination e nessuna eliminazione. Li tengo tutti.
6) Come ti trovi nel campionato russo? Differenze con quello italiano? Dal punto di vista sia fisico che tecnico/tattico...
Mi trovo molto bene. Si, le differenze ci sono, fisicamente soprattutto. Me lo aspettavo sinceramente, i russi sono dotati e nella pallavolo moderna il fisico spesso e volentieri fa la differenza. Tecnicamente sono competitivi ma per le doti naturali che hanno potrebbero crescere ancora molto sotto questo punto di vista. Ci si allena di meno rispetto all’Italia. Tatticamente mi hanno stupito, pensavo fossero indietro invece sono preparati anche in questo caso. Il mio club, per esempio, ha due scoutman che vengono ad ogni allenamento e ad ogni partita.
7) Qual è l'aspetto nel quale pensi di essere più migliorato grazie a questa esperienza? (fisico, mentale, etc)
Credo di essere migliorato ma credo che possa migliorare ancora molto. Il livello è costantemente alto in questo campionato e giocare partite di alto livello ti migliorano per forza di cose. Credo che l’aspetto mentale e morale, in queste esperienze lontano da casa, sia quello più esposto. Più di tutto il resto.
8) Come stai vivendo la lontananza dalla famiglia e dagli affetti? Com'è la vita in Russia dal punto di vista "sociale"?
Dopo 5 mesi qui casa mi manca tantissimo e ogni giorno mi manca sempre di più. La famiglia, gli amici, semplicemente l’aria di casa. Ma lo avevo messo in conto prima di partire quindi mi sento abbastanza preparato e mi godo un'esperienza che comunque dal punto di vista sociale mi sta dando molto. Ho conosciuto brave persone, sto conoscendo usanze e modi di pensare diversi dai nostri e infine mi sto divertendo. Sono finito in un gruppo in cui la quotidianità è molto piacevole. Questo conta sempre e comunque.
9) Come vedi il campionato italiano dalla Russia? Ora che non lo vivi più in prima persona, cosa ti manca e cosa non ti manca? Quest'anno si sono allontanati dal campionato italiano (oltre a te) anche altri giocatori molto importanti, pensi che il campionato ne abbia risentito? Quale pensi che sia il campionato più bello e più equilibrato?
Ho visto poche partite purtroppo quindi faccio fatica a giudicare e sinceramente non mi piace nemmeno farlo. Quello che è evidente è che molti giocatori bravi (non me la sto tirando eh), da quest’anno non giocano più in Italia, e il livello automaticamente è sceso. Ma nulla succede per caso quindi credo che questo sia il momento giusto, per il campionato italiano di puntare sui giovani, cosa che in passato non è mai stato fatta in maniera produttiva.

After the version "made in Ankara", we wanted to know how it's going in Belgorod, where we have one of our prominent figures, Dragan Travica. First of all we'd like to sent a big thanks to him for being so helpful and kind!
Let's find out how he is getting on...
1) This is your first Champions League final4, how are you feeling? How are the society and the team facing this waiting period considering that they haven't reached the final phase since some years?
For me, my team and my club this qualification is a source of happiness and pride. The society reaches the highest levels again in the European volleyball after some years of abstinence. It was a big target at the beginning of the season and reaching it justifies the great job this team is doing.
2) Everyone says you are the favorites, after all your road to the Final4 explains why. What do you think about?
Well, first of all I didn't know everyone thinks we are the favorites, thanks for sharing. I believe that all the three teams qualified thanks to their ability, while Ankara, who plays at home and didn't have to go through the playoffs, is a well-equipped team. Moreover, whoever plays at home is always the one to beat. Having said that, I'm sure that in this Final4 there are the best European teams and the level is very high.
3) What do you think about Kazan and your next match? By now you know each other by heart, as you played together more than once this season.
Kazan has the full package, we know it very well. They are such a strong team technically, tactically, mentally, in each player and in the collectivity and, above all, they have a lot of experience that in such occasions is so important.
4) And what about the other semifinal, Ankara - Jastrzebski?
As I said before, Ankara is the home team and no doubt this is an advantage, but the Polish team showed they can play a very good volleyball. They are smart and clever and they are fighters, that has never done any harm.
5) Let's play a game: you can take a player away from each team, who do you choose and why?
I don't like this game lol! What'd be the fun of taking the best players away? To face the strongest opponents is the best thing can happen in sport, so no nomination and no elimination! I want them all!
6) How are you doing in Russian League? Any difference from the Italian one? Both from the physical and tactical point of view...
I am doing very well. Yes, there are some differences, especially from the physical point of view. To be honest I was expecting this, Russians are well-endowed and in modern volleyball the physical aspect very often makes a difference. From the technical point of view they are competitive but considering their natural skills they could improve even more. There are less training sessions than in Italy. Tactically I was amazed, I was thinking they were a bit behind, instead they are well prepared also in this field. For example my team has two scoutmen who follow us in every training and every match.
7) What is the aspect you think you improved more thanks to this experience (physical, mental)?
I believed I improved but I can improve more. Here the level is constantly high in this league and the great games we play here inevitably make you improve. I think the moral and mental side is the most exposed in these experiences far away from home, most of all.
8) How are you dealing with the distance from your family and your loved ones? How is life in Russia from the social point of view?
After 5 months here I miss home so much and everyday I miss it more. My friends, my family, even simply the homely atmosphere. But I took it into account before leaving so I am well prepared and I'm enjoying this experience that is giving so much to me. I met nice people, I'm getting to know different habits and way of thinking and I'm having fun. In my team our everyday life is pleasant and this is always important.
9) What do you think about Italian league? Now that you are not living it, is there something you miss? This season you and several important players left Italy, do you think this affected our league? What is the most interesting and balanced league in your opinion?
Unfortunately I saw few games so it is diffucult for me to judge and I don't like to do it, honestly. The most evident thing is that lots of very good players left Italy (I'm not bragging!) and automatically the level went down. But nothing happens by chance so I think this is the right moment to bet on the youngest players, a move that in the past has never been done in a productive way.
10) And now...we leave you some space to say hello to your fans!
This is the most important part! As Vasco Rossi says (a very famous Italian singer, ndt), "I say hello, I say thank you, I hug you". Even if I'm far from Italy lots of people still contact me and wish me the best. I appreciate this very much and these messagges of cheer will be forever in my heart. A "thank you" will never be enough, I know that, but I'm saying it sincerely and this means it has always a special value. So, I sincerely thank you. Drago.
